Humana profit more than doubles, shares shoot higher

Humana‘s stock price rose 7 percent yesterday after the company announced its first-quarter profits more than doubled, partly because of Medicare-business gains. Net income for the January-to-March quarter was $205.7 million or $1.22 per share, up from $80.2 million or 47 cents per share a year earlier.
