“States have no choice about this, no way to monitor the money — it really is like a direct tax,” she said. “That’s what the big objection is.”
“States are eventually going to save billions of dollars under the new program,” said Peter Ashkenaz, a spokesman for the Centers for Medicare & medicaid services. “And that’s why very few states decided to join this lawsuit, despite requests for them to do so.”.
